Privacy Policy

AJIL is a delivery marketplace. You order from independent shops and restaurants; a courier brings the order to you, or you pick it up. This page explains exactly what we collect to make that work, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to delete.
The short version. We collect what an order needs: your phone number, your name, your delivery address, and what you ordered. We use your location only to fill in and confirm that address, and only while the app is open. We never see or store your card number — payments go straight to Stripe. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
1. What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Phone number and password | To create and secure your account. Passwords are stored hashed; we cannot read them. We may send a one-time SMS code to confirm the number. |
| Name and language | So the merchant and courier know whose order it is, and so the app speaks to you in English or French. |
| Delivery addresses | Street address, an optional label such as "Home" or "Work", and the map coordinates, so the courier reaches the right door. |
| Precise location | Only while the app is open, and only if you allow it: to suggest your current address at checkout and to centre the map. You can decline and type the address yourself — the app works either way. |
| Order details | Items, options, your note to the shop, drop-off instructions, scheduled time, fees, sales tax, tip and total. |
| Payment references | A Stripe customer identifier and a payment identifier per order. Card numbers never reach our servers. If you save a card, Stripe holds it, not us. |
| Messages | What you and your courier write to each other about an order, kept with that order. |
| Notification token | A device token so we can tell you when your order is accepted, on the way, or delivered. |
| Photos | Only a photo you choose to attach to an order or your profile. The app asks for camera or photo access at that moment and never browses your library on its own. |
What we do not collect
- Your card, bank or government identification numbers.
- Your location when the app is closed or in the background.
- Your contacts, calendar, microphone, or browsing outside the app.
- Advertising identifiers. There is no ad tracking in AJIL.
2. Who else sees it
Only the people and services an order actually requires:
- The merchant you ordered from sees the order, your first name and the items — not your payment details.
- Your courier sees the pickup and delivery address, your first name, your phone number for the delivery, and your drop-off instructions. Their access ends with the delivery.
- Stripe processes the payment and holds any saved card. (stripe.com/privacy)
- Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in.
- Expo delivers push notifications and app updates.
- Google provides address suggestions; on Android it also provides the map. Requests for address suggestions go through our server, not from your device to Google directly.
- Apple provides the map on iOS.
- Twilio sends the SMS confirmation code.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not hand it to anyone else except where the law requires it.
3. How long we keep it
Your account details stay while your account exists. Orders stay in your history so you can reorder and check a receipt.
When you delete your account, your personal details — name, phone number, addresses, notification token — are removed. Past orders are kept, but stripped of anything identifying you. Completed sales are accounting records: tax authorities require them to be retained, so they cannot simply be erased. What remains is a row of figures that no longer points to a person.
4. Your choices
- Delete your account — in the app: Profile → Delete my account. It takes effect immediately, as described above.
- Location — refuse or revoke it in your phone's settings at any time; you can still order by typing your address.
- Notifications — turn them off in your phone's settings.
- Access or correct your data — most of it is editable in the app. For anything else, write to [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — to a copy of your data, to correction, to deletion, or to object to certain processing. Ask us and we will apply them.
5. Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Access to the database is restricted per account by row-level security rules, so one customer cannot read another's orders, and a courier only reaches the deliveries assigned to them. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affects you, we will tell you.
6. Children
AJIL is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.
7. Where your data is processed
AJIL serves customers in the United States and Canada. Our providers may process data in the United States and in the European Union.
8. Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects you, tell you in the app.
9. Contact
Questions, requests or complaints: [email protected].
